Hi
Just bought a 1997 2.8 Challenger.Everything ok so far and I like the car compared with previous 4x4 motors.
I have a couple of questions I hope you can help me with.
What tyre pressures do you reccomend?
It feels like I have slight movement in the steering column on bumpy roads, any ideas?
Thanks in advance

Hi Chris
Welcome to the enjoyable world of Challenger 4x4 driving. I've had a couple of Pajeros in the past, but fancied a change. Mine's a '96 which I got two months ago and I've had no real problems so far - well, apart from the wiring from the light stalk nearly melting without blowing the fuse, which I thought was a bit strange.
Tyre pressures are 1.9 bar (28psi) front and rear. Mine were nearly 40 when I bought it and the ride's a lot smoother since I let them down, but it's still a lot harder than the Pajeros were. I think it's down to the tyres, which I'm seriously thinking of changing. What tyres has yours got?
Seeing as you're obviously using the forum and will probably continue to do so, why not treat yourself and your motor to a handbook. They're only £18 inc. p&p and are definitely worth it. It also helps maintain the forum.
Sorry I can't help you with the steering problem.

Thanks for your reply.
Using Bridgestone Dueller HT at the moment.
The car came with a handbook and I saw tyre pressures stated at what you said but I think they are a bit too soft at this.

Welcome mate, glad you like the motor. I have a '52 sport which does also 'rattle' a little when on very rough roads/off road. The garage has not found anything wrong and everything else seems fine so I live with it as it is so infrequent |
