Followed the link at the top of the page (even though I have visited the site on a search engine) and see that we are an affiliated club. Then I read about what it means.
Does this mean we get all this without joining Glass
(no rep for cumbria though )

Club affiliation offers a detailed insight into an area (i.e. 'Green Laning') which your own club possibly only has a little knowledge about, and then probably only locally. Affiliation will give you access to all of the GLASS publications, including its magazine 'Green Lanes' and its bulletins which inform of 'problems' (e.g. possible TROs and voluntary restraints)' 'interest areas' (e.g. lanes that are in need of more use) and other articles of interest to the 4X4 owner. It is through these magazines, and most importantly, the bulletins that GLASS keeps its members informed of what is happening to our rights of way up and down the country. You may also advertise in any of our publications free of charge, either on a club level (i.e. for membership or events) or on a personal level (i.e. classified ads). And any information from any of our publications can be reproduced in your own magazines (as long as GLASS is credited).
Affiliated clubs will also have access to our structure of area reps, who are available to provide help and advice on which routes to drive (e.g. whether they are potentially damaging or non-damaging), and who can mark up routes or maps for a small fee, usually £5 per map, which goes a small way to recovering some of the costs involved in researching routes by reps. GLASS also has an Email forum to which selected members of yours may be subscribed.
An affiliated club member may sign up for access to the GLASS Wayfinder "List of Roads" database.
One member of your committee (or your elected member) will be able to attend the GLASS AGM, they will be able to cast one vote. |
Anybody care to explain all this

Yep ... we're affiliated with GLASS now and it's opened a whole world of opportunities to get involved with the GL infrastructure in the UK.
I've only recently got the membership pack, but I'll be sure to keep you all updated with what it means to the POCUK when I've made sense of it myself!

Any more info on this Simon?
Can our members access the members only area of GLASS website?
Are all members of POCUK able to access GLASS info or just limited numbers? (I notice that different amounts of members costs different amounts) If we are limited to certain members maybe we could have active members from each area as a contact to get in touch with GLASS on others behalf.
This affiliation could be very useful for us judging by the amount of queries about lanes in certain areas posted in the forum.
There seems to be a lot of info on the site that we don't know how to access using our affiliation (or maybe i'm just too thick to work it out?)

I'll double check Andy ... I'm pretty sure (from memory) that our affiliation doesn't extend to the entire club membership, but instead to a handful of representitives within the club... Richie should be able to clarify - he's involved both independently (I believe) and as a POCUK rep

Simon, don't know if you are still watching this? Tried to sign up for wayfinder as it says affilliated club members have access to this but it asks for a membership number Is this our pocuk membership or do we have a affilliated club number? |

I've recently had an email on this from GLASS ... as an affiliate, we have a number of nominated members who can register on their Wayfinder ... I'll need to do a bit of digging around to find out exactly where we are
