It's a good idea to make some parts member-only, I think.
If one looks around, say at the newbie section, it's obvious that this is a happy community with loads and loads of usefull info. Then registering, preferably with a small contribution, is almost inevitable when there is the prospect of all the club has to offer. |

Could you not leave it as it is. But if you want to join the club and get a club pack for say £5 which will include a YD and any other goodies you can get from sponsers. I only have 1 YD so I would pay for a Club Pack. |

could the club be put into sections i.e
f.a.q open to none members .
for further help on technical issues and certain catergories ,join the club for free.
and then a paying club membership which entitles you to the full benefit of all what the club has to offer.
to which i would happily suscribe to. |

Wow what a can of worms
but making people register gives us a false size of the club, at the moment the numbers reflect the owners

Yeah ... that is an obvious concern ... I don't want to make every wannabe Pajero Owner have to register - they may never even buy one (Although, once driven!)
The point is, to try to encourage more community spirit, not artificially inflate membership numbers

Simon I think that you need to state
1 What is the purpose of the club?
2 How big can you let the club get and still manage it?
3 What sort of people do you want to view these pages?
4 Do you need to charge to view these pages?
5 Where do you see the club in 5 years?
6 What do the viewers want from the club?
7 What are you concerned about?
I personally love the friendly banter. I need the free advice.
I think that you have got the balance about right. It would appear that the viewers (club membership) is growing. So in the words of one of the members "It aint broke so dont fix it"

James I was just thinking if we got another 500 members would this cause a problem for Simon to continue running the club in the same way as now.
I dont know anything about how it works. ie does Simon have to spend housekeeping the site ?
If I have a problem. I find that the old method of 2 lists 'for and against ' or 'pro's and con's' (I cheated when buying the Pajero) helps to shine the light on any weaknesses.
Planning seems to be the big thing where I work.
I think that Simon is doing the right thing in being pro-active rather than re-active. |

I think that if someone should need info on something, as I did then its only fair that they join, as I did |
