hi all,
we are thinking about buying a 2.5 exceed , but are just a bit worried about the cambelt as i have noticed a lot of members have had theres snap, is this a common problem or is it just that they are not being replaced when they should be?
i do not mean to offend any members by implying that they are skimping on these things, i am just trying to find out if it is a common problem.
many thanks and great site |

Wayne.....Hi and welcome to the club
Drive belts on the 2.5 snapping is not a common problem, its the fact that the 2.5 is belt driven that there is a chance of more damage if a belt breaks.........provided that the vehicle is maintained regularly then theres only the remotest chance of a belt breaking due to a defect.........don't let it put you off buying a 2.5 |

AND, the major reason for the cam stopping is when the balance belt snaps it pulls the, or causes the, cam belt to loose it track and fails.
Cause? previous owners or people wanting to save a buck or 2 only replacing the cam belt and not both at same time.
Me? I have left my balance belt off. Feel safer that way.
each to ther own
BUT, change one belt, change both.
thats a must. GET IT CHANGED RIGHT AWAY
welcome to the club.
mmm, want to buy my 2.5?
never been in the mud, rain or sidewalk.

To change all the belts on a 2.5 cam/balance/alti/a/c etc costs £45 from Millners and 3 hours of your time approx! If you DIY
