If you visit your profile, either using the link towards the top of the page, or click here : Profile ... You will see some new options :
Allow signatures: O Yes O Yes, but no images O No
Allow avatars: O Yes O No
These have been added to improve the performance of page downloads, in particular for non-broadband users.
The options are quite simple ...
The default (if you change nothing) is to allow both full signature details and to display all avatars.
These are the choices :
Signatures :
O Yes (default) - show full member signature details on all posts
O Yes, but no images - display member signature text on posts, but do NOT resolve picture links (sig pix are a major bottleneck for non-BB!)
O No - do not display any member signature information on posts
Avatars :
O Yes - display member avatars
O No - do not display member avatars
These settings are specfic to your login, so they won't work for you unless you are actually logged in to the forums! (ie - if you are browsing without logging in, (guest), then the default 'guest' settings apply - all avatars, NO sigs).
I hope this is a useful addition to the forum functionality.
Regards,
Simon |

Well done. It's not easy these days to think about dial-up users. Everyone seems to think the whole world is on broadband. Good to see consideration in effect. |
