|
|
Tin of Protec oil booster i ordered from club shop on Monday night arrived first thing this morning! Great service Cheers!
Now, whats the best way to use it? Do you just pour all of it in the Oil filler cap on Rocker cover or should it be mixed with oil first.
The only directions on tin are "Add 5% by volume to new or existing crankcase oil"
Please help Lads!

Yes, hoy the full can in the filler cap and forget about it.
Next time try using the oil flush before oil change and booster after.
Makes a big diference |

Yep, just tip it into the Oil filler hole. 5% is a whole tin in a 2.8 |

Cheers lads will do that. I thought about the oil flush before it was serviced last week but never got round to it, will do it in 10k time.
The reason why i'm trying the protec is that on start up it seems a little tappety from the top end till it warms up do you think it'll help?

Should make a difference.
Are you using a genuine Mitsi oil filter?
These have a non return valve which keeps more oil in the top end of the block.
Cheaper filters dont have this valve and allow the oil to drain back into the sump over time.
Not sure how much a 2.8 filter is but seem to remember £28 ish bantered round on the forums.
My 2.5 from Mitsi was only £12.
P.S. Mitsi filters are designed to be changed every second oil change which is when you would use the oil flush.
My truck is much quieter after a service with flush and booster. |

Where is this non return valve??? I'v just swapped a mitsi filter & it looked no different from the japparts item ...and, if it holds oil in the top end, what reading do you believe on the dipstick? |

I got my can from the club shop last week, I'm just waiting for enough space in the engine to put it in!!

The valve is formed by a soft rubber washer in the filter.
Never thought about the oil level. I just change the fliter and then top up.
After running I top it back up and it takes a bit more. |
