don't believe all misti tell you, try unplugging the airflow meter and see if it gets any worse.. if not it could be the airflow meter.. worth checking., otherwise, collapsed injector???

As Dan says it could be the MAF. If the sensor is giving the cars brain the wrong info it will adjust the fueling accordingly. This may be either too much or too little - in this case I would say too much.

Did the mitsi tech reset the fault codes and run the tests again? It would have shown as a fault if the previous owner had unplugged the MAF to see if that was the fault themselves. If I have mine tested it tells me the injectors and all sorts are faulty until the codes are reset and it is tested again. This is because my LPG system cuts the power down to the petrol injectors which generates a fault code in the computer.

Try unplugging it and running it without as Dan says, hopefully thats all it is. But if you have the codes read again after make sure the codes are reset first.

Has the previous owner run it on Tescos or Morrisons dodgy petrol?

HTH,

Andy
