Hi everyone. The cables have gone on my sunroof so I'm going to replace the whole shabang  Shocked I know the whole frame and mechanism come out as one cos i've seen them on flea bay. Have any of you fine chaps and chapette's removed the headling, or whole sunroof mech before ?Any pointers would be gratefully received as i dont want to go snapping clips off that dont need removing  Rolling Eyes   Laughing

Try this mate. You may need a second pair of hands. You may also find it easier to remove any visors or other 'obstructions' around or near the glass aparture.

1. Slide back the sun visor under the sunroof.

2. You will see 4 plastic squarish covers on the sides of the glass - these are held by screws. Unscrew the plastic covers and you will see 2 nuts underneath each plastic cover, total 8 nuts. Loosen the nuts and remove.

3. The sunroof is free now and you should be able to push it up gently from inside. (This is where your 'mate' may be quite helpful, they can be a bit on the heavy and awkward side)

Take the opportunity with the sunroof off to and clean the glass well, check the seals, check bodywork for rust, and lubricate anything and everything neccesary with an appropriate lubricant, ie Silicone Spray etc (WD40 is ok, but not best stuff)

When satisfactory, refit in reverse of above and test.

Job done.

Took mine out last year for the same reason, Firstly remove all the upper plastic trim, door handles on roof, rear light, front lights, mirror, sun visors,
Take out popper clips that hold headlining up, remove trim from inside of sunroof( the bit where the headlining hole is)The headlining should come down now, remove this, now remove glass from sunroof, loosen the bolts you can see around the sunroof take care not to remove fully yet, unclip the drain pipes (4) now you need some help one person in front seat and one in rear, now take off bolts and the hole thing will come down.unclip motor etc and remove from the back door

Yeah, all sunroofs are prone to it due to the little dip in between the 2 seals where water accumilates.

Would probably be a pain to do as mine looks quite a fiddly bit of metal to work with.
