Bill, this is already explained in this forum ...

email addresses can be picked up from other peoples address books, or from pages on the www, then 'hijacked' to make it look like you have sent it on ... from what you have described, it sounds like a club member, with YOUR email address in their (poss outlook) address book has got a virus and then ... well, the rest is as above.

It's not happening through the club services.

Simon.

My Outlook keeps returning 'undeliverable' mail back to me, the thing is I didn't send mail to these people - is this the virus thing doing it's 'job' ?

I never open email attachments from those I don't recognise and even some of those that I do - just in case.

Someone on the group has got the virus, and it has then got the email address from them. It has got the address from the web page that is stored in the cache on the PC.

If you look at a page that has several posts on it, then right click and choose 'View Source' the HTML code for that page will be displayed in notepad.

Then in notepad go to the top choose 'edit' and then search for the @ symbol, that all emails use. You will then see the email address on that page.
I just got 5 address's on one page.

Look at ten pages and it soon mounts up.

That is what the virus is doing.

If your address is then put in the 'from' part of the email headers, it will appear to come from you, even though it has not.

Apologies to anyone getting an e mail from me, but I seem to be quite merrilly sending them all over the world. I use 4 email addresses and the club is the only one with this address. Dave.
