When I try to close the front sunroof it sometimes stops and I get a "chattering" noise... possibly a slipping cog? I got it shut by means of brute force & ignorance but it obviously needs stripping down. Has anyone experienced this/stripped the unit down before? |

mine does the same by rocking the switch it seems to get over the sticky point and closes.
when we got ours the connector for the roof had been disconnected on the front panel.
havent found a sticky point or real reason yet to sort it, the drivers door glass is causing greif after someone used some glue like substance on it.
regards

You do know that the sunroof deliberately stops when almost closed as a safety feature to avoid trapped fingers etc. A second push on the button is needed to get it to close fully |

If you pop off the courtesy light lens where the sunroof buttons are, there is a 'manual crank' thingy, to close the sunroof if the electrics fail.
You should find it behind a removable cover or behind a 'pop in' plastic tab.
In your tool kit, you should find the proper cranking tool ('S' shaped hex rod). If you don't have one an allen-key might do (?).
This way you can see if it's the main drive gearing that's broken or if it is the electric motor that's slipping/broken. |

Cool, I know the tool you mean. wondered what it was for.... seemed a bit puny for a backup engine crank handle...
Now has anyone stripped the headlining off? Or am I about to bravely go where no caucasion has gone before? |
