OK. Anyone know what are the largest tyres that can be fitted on a Space Gear standard rim size, that won't foul the body?

I want to put 265 x 75's on.

Ideally I'd like to fit 80's as I like the tallest profile.

Any help greatly appreciated.

Cheers, Jamie.

Hi I think you'll find that the widest recommended tyre on a standard rim of 6x15 is 225/80x15. I have been looking at new wheels & tyres for my '95 Spacegear for a while and the stumbling block is the offset of the wheel which appears to be approx 32.5mm. Most alloys appear to have a max of 20mm which means that the wheels stick out to far by the time you have an 8" rim wide enough for a MAN sized tyre! Twisted Evil If anyone knows different please tell. I would like for instance to try a Paj wheel for size but I believe it will stick out further as described before Rolling Eyes

They are on...

I have 6" alloys which though not the standard styling, are the same offset in dimension etc. They arrived on it from Japan.

I have fitted 31 x 10.50 x R15's which are near as dammit 265x70x15 but I believe fractionally smaller.

There was minor rubbing, which was simply cured. The inner part of the mudflap catches on full lock. I took the mudflap off, trimmed the rubber down where the wear marks were, walloped the inner arch where the flap attaches back with a big hammer (it's an easy to bend bit of inner arch where the innermost mudflap bolt goes) and Bob's your uncle (Fanny's your aunt).

It looks like a Tonka toy or something from Thunderbirds now. I believe these are the biggest tyres you can get on this thing with the standard rims and suspension. There is a very minor change in speedo readout where it reads under by 1mph at 30 and under by about 2.5mph at 70 so negligable. It feels and looks lovely.

Anyone in the Bounemouth Poole area could do worse than talk to SVS out at 3 Cross for very reasonably priced tyres of the same sort.

Cheers, Jamie.
