was talking to the mechanic that does our delica (it had just failed its emmission tests)
asked him about blanking the EGR valve he said immediatly that it would automatically fail the MOT here in the UK

Hi jakedog
We had this argument the other day onthe pajero technical forum and was told that it would definately not fail the mot for the unit being blanked off,the english 4m40 and 4d56 units dont have the egr valve fitted its only because of the strict emission laws in japan they are fitted there,i will try and find the link tot he thread concerned and post it back here but unless your mot man can give a very good reason to fail it i cant see how he can.

Think this be the one here http://www.pocuk.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=9918&highlight=blocking+egr

As I understand it, our MOT measures a component of exhaust gas that is not affected by blanking EGR. Loads of members have done this and passed MOT but if your not confident just block the vacuum hose and unblock it for the MOT.
