Alternator packed up on Sunday. Brushes worn out - too much mud.
The Alternator is a Mitsubishi. If you ask you need to buy the whole regulator. However this is what tight me did.
1. Remove vacuum oil pump
2. Remove 3 off through screws
3. Break alternator in two, thus exposing brushes.
4. Unscrew brush pack only - two crosshead screws.
5. Unsolder brush pack to regulator joint - twisting action required to remove.
6. prize off little braid clamp from top of brush set - comes of very cleanly - sort of push in fit - not glued Wink note which brush goes where.
7. unsolder brushes, and catch them as they ping out of holder.
8. Get some new brushes. - I used "SAS Components 5015 Alternator Brush set - Repl Bosch 1.127.014.011" Seem exactly the same as Mitsi ones.
9. Rebuild

Total cost £3 inc VAT !

Obtained mine from local auto electrician.
SAS tel No as on packet is 01527 575502.

Hope this comes in handy for somebody

Dave
