Hi guys

Notice on the maden drive home today there is a lot of play in the steering wheel.

The truck doesnt wonder about on the road, it just seems to be the steering.

What do I need to check? and where is the best place to look for faults?

Gareth

on top of the steering box theres a nut with a slot for a screwdriver undo the nut a bit and tighten the screw til its just tight then lock the bolt back up.dont overtighten the screw it will make steering too stiff.

check all the linkages and pay attention to the idler arm for play - had one snap on the way off chapelgate which made for a very slow and buttock clenching drive home, having said that if your idler has snapped you really would know about it!!

It was a bit dangerous, not to be recomended and glad it happened at the very end of chapelgate as we got back onto tarmac  Laughing  i didn't want to wait hours to get it recovered home so took it steady and found once up to about 40 it tracked ok, i guess the centrifugal forces kept it straight but the steering kept jamming against the left front shock - got all the way home, 2hrs later, before someone flagged me down convinced the wheel was about to fall off Embarassed
