Hi,
This may seem like a silly question to some, but my nephew had a '91 lwb Paj, and when he hooked up to his caravan (a twin axle Ranger) the Al-Ko lever could not be fully raised as spare wheel on truck was in the way, so he had to de-flate his spare to be able to hook up safely. He fitted a extentsion block on the tow ball, but it still catches, so he now hooks up at an angle so the lever clears the spare.
Now the reason I ask is I have just bought a similar truck, and concerned I may have same problem with mine.
So the question is, has anyone else had this problem, and if so what did you do to correct it. I have heard some have raised the spare wheel or removed it, but don't really want to do that, sorry if a bit long winded but curious to find out.
Thanks.

I vaguely remember a similar issue when I borrowed a van with the alko hitch .....   hmm  not sure how I resolved it, but I'm sure it didn't involve too much trouble ..   did I hitch up with the door open.....  backed up, got it positioned, opened door, lifted hitch, lowered jockey, clamped hitch down, closed door ...  does that make sense?

Have an ALKO tow ball on mine (which seems to have a slightly longer neck) which was fitted with a spacer (pre August '98 so pre type approval therefore spacer allowed).  With both these, the ALKO hitch just clears the spare wheel.  Obviously I try to give it as much clearance as possible by angling the truck with the spare away from the hitch if there's enough room.  Always worked fine for me!
Alternatively, Dave is right, ALKO do a hitch with a removable arm specifically to overcome this problem.
