Advertise in Auto Trader in Scotland. Based near Stirling. Always has a good selection of Pajeros in stock. Great bloke, very good quality motors. Can pick you up from the station. Just gave me the keys and said take it out and see how it feels! I've been more than happy with my 1994 2.8 LWB Exceed, 84000 kilos on the clock £2k. Only thing not working was compass light bulb. Car had 12mths M.O.T, and 6 of Tax. Interior is like new.
Look them up.

Well obviously you got lucky with this Crook.... I bought a Toyota Surf (Auto Trader) of him for £1550 and payed up front by bank Transfer as he said he would deliver to Aberdeen. Suffice to say it never turned up and he tried to do a runner with my money. Dispite phoning him every day for 3 months he gave me the run around saying he had payed it, was going to pay it, was outside the bank as we spoke... blah blah blah.... I had no choice but to go to the Police & Trading Standards but they were useless.... utterly!
He then stopped answering my calls completely and i was getting mega stressed out. I ended up having to use other peoples mobiles so he would answer.... He then said he was under invesigation from the Inland Revenue and his bank accounts were frozen... seriously this guy is a major walter!!!!
As i was in such desperate financial state i had no choice but to agree to take one of his other cars of him (this is now 3 months later) which was a Pajero.
He said it was worth £2200 and i was getting it for the £1550 i had payed him earlier.
He said he would "deliver" my new wagon up to Ullapool (I discovered later that it came on the back of a trailer) where i had to arrange for it to go on the ferry... (£60single) I drove it home the 30 miles to my house when it blew up.... The Cylinder head was blown (sometime back), speedo didnt work, ECU was *beep* and the gearbox wouldnt go into 4&5th gear.... he basically sent me the biggest pile of shoite imaginable.
So far i have shelled out more that £1800 on parts & labour and it still doesnt to the do's....
If anyone is CRAZY enough to deal with CAMBUS FOUR DRIVE then dont expect anything but hassle, disapointment & being swindled.... You have been warned! |

Tried to PM you, but have just joined the forum after finding this post. My wife bought a Vitara from this guy on Friday, which was delivered to Aberdeen.
Discovered that the wheel arches are falling to bits, that the 9 month MOT is actually a 3 month MOT, that the key doesn't open the boot, the cd player mentioned in the ad had been replaced by a tape player that they hadn't even bothered to connect. he was supposed to pick it up today and refund us, but, guess what - he didn't show, and isn't answering e-mails or calls. This is fraud and I'm determined to pursue this. In my case I have the original advert he posted in auto trader as evidence. Did you get anywhere with the guy? Tha address he has given us seems to be false. I'm utterly sick that this has happened.
My wife bought it, and really felt that the guy sounded genuine and helpful. Clearly not the case at all!! |

Hi I just got bumped by this guy today, bought a shogun thats turned out to have a big hole in one of the seats and a big crack in the chassis and three months tax instead of the 6 promised. nowhere near the spec said. and just looked him up and found this, Did you have any joy, He said he would come and pick it up tom but after reading this i am not so sure he will. i'm not sure how to work this website yet as just joined to get in touch about this guy. Cambus 4x4 he trades by.
[b]Managed to get my money back just! by my husband turning up at his yard at 8am with his dodgy car to hand back to him. Turned out the car had 70 odd thousand miles taken off the clock since its last MOT. I checked it online. Total con man. Stay well clear. He sold me this car knowing i am due to have a baby in 2 weeks and have a toddler and a young child!!! What sort of a person could do this!! CAMBUS 4X4!!!

It just makes me so angry that this guy is still selling duff cars every week and getting away with it... Police cant do anything, Trading Standards dont want to know and as a result Auto Trader cant stop him from placing ads so along come the likes of you & me departing with hard earned cash with what you think is an honest deal but clearly not!
I know of 3 other people who have had much the same (in one case a lot worse) but were powerless in getting anything done..... He's a crook and no ways about it!
I feel your pain guys... sorry iot happened to you as well as i know how angry i am about how i was cheated & swindled! |

Cambus 4 x 4, aka cambus 7515
ABSOLUTE CON MAN
After a week of fobbing us off, we finally received a swap for the suzuki vitara. A daihatsu terios. Seemed fine at last although, NO TAX came with IT, suppose to be 6 months!!
Today tried to start it and nothing!! Either *beep* battery or de-funcked alternator.
Just went onto the auto-trader website and guess what. The vitara is on again!!!!!!!!!! The whole thing is rotten through, wheel arches crumble away in your hand. Key does not fit back door nor does the ignition work very well. There is NOT a years MOT, only MOT'd til August 2010.
Hope someone sees this sit before they buy. |

Guys.... If I can get sued for selling a car based on its 'description' then I'd urge you all to do the same to this guy!!
I bought what turned out to be a shady Shogun, never got me home. Paid £600 in repairs. Sold it. It never got him home!
Unexpected for both me and him. Wanted his money back even after he scrapped it (apparently!)
Because I said it was in good condition (which it was..!) he won his case...
A lot of head and heartache (for me) - but the law should be on your side!

Hi
Saw these posts too late for me but as I was taking him to court I couldn't post a reply till now. Good news is I got my money back. EVENTUALLY. Not before I had waited over a year through the worst winter up here without a car and being a single Mum with 3 kids.It was hellish. Not that he cared. He even sent me a text to call off the Sheriff's Officers as said 'think not of him but of his family!' Cheek. Not a care about mine.
Tried to sell me a pup. Lucky it blew up on delivery and I had it in writing that I was doing a long distance purchase. Ensure you have it in writing that you have purchased the car and also take him as an individual to court and not his company. My receipt had 2 different company names mixed up on it. Cambus and Specialist4x4 as Cambus4x4. He even had copied the official Landrover logo onto it.
As has been said Mr Alan Patrick of Cambus 4x4 is what is allegedly called a 'rogue car dealer'.
Just so you all know he is now trading under Broad St Motors still on AutoTrader. Written to the MD of AutoTrader and they are looking into it.
He told the Sheriff's Officer that he was in hospital when it went to court but his son, Andrew, told me (as one of the many excuses) almost 2 months before the courtcase that he was in hospital so I Googled every hospital within a large area of Tillicoutry where he lives and phoned them all up to check but guess what? He wasn't in any nor had been. What illness keeps you in for more than 2 months anyway? I was annoyed my solicitor didn't tell the judge so started to do it all myself when he bent over backwards to allow Mr Patrick to pay slowly. Oh and just so you know he pleads poverty but manages to have around 11 cars up on AutoTrader and also sends you the first payment but no others.
Written to my MP and also the Secretary of State for Scotland about the law too. Unfair these people can not repay even after the judge says he has to pay. Bit like that TV series 'Cowboy Builders'. Law needs changing.
I sacked my solicitor and dealt direct with the Sheriff's Officers. It costs a lot less and they are very helpful. Recommend anyone to do that. Don't bother with a bank arrestment as the bank were unable to find funds in the first account I found. You will have to do some detective work and remember his son's initial is also 'A'.
My local Tradings standards officer emailed me recently as guess what? He has another 'victim' up here!
Why don't Autotrader start a feedback as EBay and Amazon do?
Avoid this dealer. Or it will cost you!
So much hard work and heartache I am thinking it might be good to start a civil case for damages! |

Yip, best avoided.
Never get a car delivered from him. Never take the man on his word, as the vehicle will be different to how it is advertised.
I bought a pajero from him, the brakes were shot even though it "just had them done" according to him. Also a host of other issues. |

I know im ressurecting an old thread but just wanted to say thanks to everyone for the warning about this guy.
We are looking at selling my wifes range rover as it the biggest heap of junk ever and has cost a small fortune so far and going back to a paj (she should never have left the fold, although I still have my shorty)
Anyway, I was looking on autotrader and lo and behold Broad St 4x4 came up advertising 4 pajeros. They all looked good on the photos but thought id check on here first to see if any one has dealt with them and im glad I did now!
Ill steer well clear but its dissapointing to see nothing has been done about this guy and he's still trading. For info he is still using the same mobile number as in the post above.
Thanks everyone, invaluable site info yet again! |

Am I ever glad I googles the mobile number of the guy selling the Pajero I just called him about. Hes currently selling a pajero and I had been brought to this forum last time he advertised a pajero I was looking at. I recognised the background in he ad and had a sneaking suspicion it was the same guy. Now trading as Tillys cars but claims this is a private sale. Wide berth given. Thanks to all who posted here you probably just saved me a lot of heartache lol |
