Posted: Thu Oct 15, 2009 16:58 Post subject: My '93 SWB 2.5TD Pajero Modifications |
|
|
Hello,
This is my first post in this forum. I am from Portugal, so please forgive any spelling or grammar errors that you may find throughout this post.
About my Pajero:
It was bought new in February of 1993 by my father who, at the time, could not source it from any local dealer and had it imported from Germany.
For 15 years it was my father's daily "work horse", and he stacked up 450 thousand km in it (280 thousand miles?). Two years ago he passed it onto me.
Modifications:
- 2" suspension lift - 4 ProComp 9000 shock absorbers, Mabilsa springs, IronMan Torsion Bars;
- ARB rear diff lock;
- Hidden Warn M8000 series winch (box under the bonnet and control switches inside the car);
- 32x11.5 R15 BF Mud Tires;
- Turbo pressure gauge, replacing the stock altimeter;
- CB Radio with Santiago 1200 antenna;
- K&N air filter;
- Snorkel;
To Do List (and ongoing modifications):
- Replace spare tire for 20lt jerrycan in a custom home-made holder (almost done);
- New (stronger) Fuel tank skid plate (almost done);
- Roof rack (waiting for the ordered roof bars, to weld a custom made roof rack to them);
- Front bumper spot lights (waiting for them, already ordered);
- Rock-sliders (still planning how these will be done - square tubing dimensions, etc.);
- Custom all-steel recessed rear bumper, to eliminate those bulky corners (still in planning);
- 2 or 2,5 inch body lift (still in planning);
- ARB Front diff lock (waiting for $$$$$ );
Here are some pictures of it:
(I put them as links because they are quite large and would make the post difficult to read)

*ttp://soundsk.no.sapo.pt/IMG_2577.jpg
At this point, it already had the tires, the suspension lift, snorkel and ARB rear locker.
Now for some images of the winch craddle fabrication and fitting:

*ttp://soundsk.no.sapo.pt/IMAGE_00092.jpg
*ttp://soundsk.no.sapo.pt/IMAGE_00095.jpg
The turbo pressure gauge:
*ttp://soundsk.no.sapo.pt/turbo.JPG
The jerrycan holder and fuel tank skid plate (which are just waiting for some black paint, at the moment):
The reason for the jerrycan is that the back door has shifted down, due to the excess weight of the spare tire all these years, and water now leaks into the trunk. The door is going to be fixed this week, but it would make no sense to fix it if the tire continued to be there.

Comments and suggestions are welcome! I will very soon be needing some help for the body lift, i still don't know if i should have the lifting "blocks" made, or if i can order them from somewhere.
Best Regards!! |

Sorry for the links being like that, but the forum would not let me post them any other way and i did not want to lose what i had already written.
I just noticed that i cannot edit my posts to fix this, so i hope a forum moderator can fix this for me.
Thank you!
Best Regards! |

Hello,
The pics are stored in a public server (one from my service provider), but the forum won't let me use the "img" tags because they contain the URLs that point to the images.
Seeing as i can't edit my own post, i am hoping someone "higher in the ranks" can do it for me.
Thank you
Best Regards! |

Well i'll try to re-post the pictures i had tried earlier.
At this point, it already had the tires, the suspension lift, snorkel and ARB rear locker.
Now for some images of the winch craddle fabrication and fitting:
The turbo pressure gauge:
[img]http://soundsk.no.sapo.pt/turbo.JPG
The jerrycan holder and fuel tank skid plate (which are just waiting for some black paint, at the moment):
The reason for the jerrycan is that the back door has shifted down, due to the excess weight of the spare tire all these years, and water now leaks into the trunk. The door is going to be fixed this week, but it would make no sense to fix it if the tire continued to be there.
The jerry can holder replacing the heavy tyre!
The fuel tank protection:
And, the cherry on top of the cake, and my best modification yet:
