My boyfriend has just switched to Green Flag which will cover the driver of the vehicle rather than the actual vehicle itself.

Although I enjoy driving his Modded Escort GTi I think I will stick to the Pajero whenever possible as I am going to be in trouble if it breaks down when I am on my own in it as I won't be covered!

He decided to take up this cover when renewing his insurance with Privilege who have an affilation with Green Flag who were voted the Top Recovery Company in 2005 apparently??

I`m with Green Flag and they cover the vehicle no matter who`s driving it.

I was`nt praising Green Flag, though I`m quite content with them.   Just contradicting Foxter regarding them covering the vehicle as opposed to the person.

The other thing to watch for is whether you're covered for a caravan breakdown - many policies will recover the caravan if the car breaks down but have no cover for the van.

My company car operates like this - if the car breaks down they may be able to recover the van (no promises though), but they wouldn't come out if its a van fault.

Both the C.C and the C & C Club schemes, with Green flag and the RAC respectively cover breakdowns to both the car and the caravan.

Have been a member of the Caravan Club for 34 years and have always used their Mayday recovery operated by Green Flag and cannot recommend them to highly as on the 3 or 4 times we have had to call them out they have been excellent, even although they sub contract the work to local breakdown contractors in the area you are the vehicles are always clean and the operators smartly dressed and very pleasant.
