Has anyone got the overlays for the easy group?
Surely that wouldnt have been a 150 mile trip and there are members going who were going to do thier first laning trip only to be let down.
If someone has the Memory Map overlays and there is enough support for an easy group I will take you lot out...

I spoke to Jo (i'deratherbesurfing) last night and through reasons of her own she has sold her Paj and will no longer be  attending Mega meet or the sunday gren lanes.

This put the laning in doubt because I have no experience with these lanes and dont have the time to sort Maps for everyone, and Richie and Pembo are busy sorting the wild goose chase and also have their hands full with the Help the Heroes event soon after Mega Meet.

I have been told that the nearest lane is about 45 miles from the camp site, the best  2 lanes are closed too.the lanes that jo was thinking of would be a round trip of approx 150 miles which with the price of todays fuel would be costly.

We are also spending the majority of Saturday sitting in our trucks running around the beautiful Welsh countryside looking for some wild geese Laughing

I am thinking of maybe leaving the Sunday "free" so people attending Mega meet can socialise, maybe have a pub lunch,a game of rounders or even visit the local fair Question

Of course if someone wants too "organise" something for the sunday off road wise then you are more than welcome Wink

Persoanally i think I'm having a day out of me truck Laughing

One of the principal reasons for choosing N Wales was the extensive green laning opportunities,  it would be a shame and a disappointment to the newbies to shelve it.

Sorry Paul but you have the idea for the Mega Meet all wrong. Rolling Eyes

when myself,Richie,Mark and Marty decided on North Wales it was because the "mega meet" has never been to Wales before.Never was it mentioned about ANY off road Evil or Very Mad

As i have said before to you numerous times The mega meet is and will allways be a "social" event with camping and socialising our priority Wink

Any offroading can be done as an addition Smile

I aint said that it is shelved, Lee has already offered to take a group out if he gets the correct maps Exclamation

BUT it isnt fair to leave this subject up in the air with all wondering wether the laning is happening or not so If nobody can organise the route and groups etc by 14th May then I am afraid the laning will be cancelled.

I would like to do green laning as it would be a great way of learning how to use my truck properley,
but i also understand that MM is a social gathering and we would also be spending Saturday in our trucks
so Sunday ideally should be a relaxing day for everyone to mingle but i dont mind im easy.

Right, 1st things 1st, THE SUNDAY LANING HAS NOT BEEN CANCELLED BUT and it's a big but, if no one else can organise the routes in the next couple of weeks then the laning will have to be knocked on the head.

We will be here to help and give advise but we (Me and Jaze) have got our hands full with the Saturday and the other thing i.e. BBQ to sort out.

No one is stopping anyone from organising a meet up point Sunday morning where those attending the whole weekend can drive down to in a convoy from Abergele and those coming just for the day can head to. (Somewhere like Corwen Car park Wink )

If there are 24 peeps wanting to do the laning then, we are looking at 4/5 groups which will need leaders will good knowledge of map reading and green laning. But bear in mind that as I type this the Wayfarer and  the Pheasant Steps are both SHUT. I am hoping to here news about this in the next week Confused  and that with it being a Bank Holiday weekend, it will be busy with 4x4s and other track users Exclamation

Also from the camp-site to Corwen is about 35 miles, so a 70 mile round trip before any lanes are done, and the fuel cost are still around £1.20. also we all know Saturday Night is about getting a lot of beer down us (Well not me I enjoy water Embarassed , and watching Jaze burn the meat and Taz pole dancing, so come Sunday morning by the time we get up and drive down we be looking at gone 11am, unless the traffic loving police here stop us Shocked. So those that do not want to go laning, can enjoy the local car boot or a walk across to the beach Idea

My last thing is that the MEGA MEET has never been about off-roading/laning but about members and there friends and family getting together to have a enjoyable time.

There are plenty of other clubs that offer events just for the mud lovers (and before anyone else says it, I know I was one in the past Twisted Evil  Twisted Evil  Laughing  Laughing )

Nice One Lee  .....

As said, Mega Meet is all about being a general family social meet, that moves around the country, so that members in different parts get a chance to travel to one less far away.... but at each one in the past, there has been always some element of off-roading, or laning; indeed at the first one, as some may recall, it was myself and Adrian who organised all the laning, for the Delicas and Paj's  around Derbyshire.

So, as Lee has offered, he has my full support to put together a day. And I'm sure we can sort it.  As said, if anyone has the mem map overlays, or indeed the grid refs of the lanes, then we can put this together, so long as we know the up-to date status of the lanes ...

I'm sure the locals, Richie, Mike  and John Pugh could lend a pointer here ......  I would have no probs following a Lada !!

Paul_c2 -  if you fancy taking a group out to more challenging lanes, then rise to it, and organise it.

I'm sure the laning will come together, I have been all around North Wales, but it is many years ago, and as we know, lanes change ...  So, who has better more up - to -date info?

P.S.

And I have just spoken with Denjo, who is enjoying bank Holiday Monday, and will be on the case when he gets home later, so, if we can all twiddle our fingers and toes till later, may be things will be sorted.

Kylecollie will be busy with Shirley anyway.
