|

I thought it might be useful to put up an explanation of the Mk2 Pajero instrument panel as quite often new owners don't get (or don't read) an English handbook.
On diesel Pajeros:
1-Left/right indicator [when turn indicator activated]
2-Headlight main beam on [when headlights on main beam]
3-Selected gear (automatic gearbox only)
4-Door open warning [when a door is open]
5-Suspension hardness setting (where fitted) [shows soft/medium/hard as set by switch on console]
6-Low oil pressure warning [when oil pressure is low]
7-Suspension height setting (where fitted) [when suspension height set to high setting]
8-Battery charge warning [when battery is not charging correctly]
9-Glowplug indicator (not on 2.5 diesel) [when glowplugs are operating]
10-Water in fuel filter warning [when there's water in the fuel filter]
11-Automatic gearbox temperature warning (automatic gearbox only) [when gearbox is too hot]
12-Overdrive off (automatic gearbox only) [when button on shifter pressed to disable overdrive]
13-4WD/2WD mode and centre diff lock [shows which wheels are being driven, and if centre diff is locked]
14-Low fuel warning [when approx 10 litres fuel left]
15-Seatbelt warning [when driver's seatbelt not clipped]
16-Handbrake/low brake fluid/brake pad warning [when handbrake on, or low brake fluid/pads]
19-Cruise control on (where fitted) [when cruise control is controlling throttle]
20-Antilock brake warning (where fitted) [when ABS unit has a fault]
21-Rear diff lock (where fitted) [when rear diff is locked]
On petrol Pajeros, the same except:
17-Catalytic converter temperature warning [when catalyst is very hot (don't park on dry grass)]
18-Engine management warning [when engine ECU has detected a fault]
and the rev counter goes up to 8000rpm rather than 6000rpm. |

It is indeed from the 1991 Japanese handbook. So the start of the Mk2, before the 2.8 engine was introduced.
Do you have a photo of the 2.8 layout we can put in too? |

Be nice if someone with a 2.8/3.5 handbook could take a photo of the layout for those engines, as there are some notable differences. |

You know, I was sure I uploaded that and linked it to this thread when you sent it to me before. It's certainly on my Photobucket account. Apologies for not checking that I did! |

Sounds like an aftermarket add-on, maybe a manual glow plug switch fitted by the previous owner. |

Hey guys, I've just purchased a 1991 2.5 TD intercooler turbo blue/silver pajero. There is a small red triangle warning light constantly on next to the green wheel lights to show if your in 2 or 4 with centre diff lock etc. Can anybody tell me what this means as there's no handbook with the truck. I cannot seem to see it on the images posted here already. Many thanks Tom |
