PostPosted: Mon Nov 15, 2010 22:13    Post subject: Mitsubishi Shogun Recall Help ? Reply with quote

I went to my Mitsubishi dealer to get genuine filters for my 02 3.2Did Shogun I was told that there was out standing Recalls and to arrange booking the 4x4 in.
I did and got A dip stick, Brake accumulator,Egr valve and an Ecu rewrite...
Now my 4x4 is black smoking no low end torque/power and drinking diesel.
I have spoken to mitsubishi and have been told theres nothing wrong with my 4x4 and been told now its my fault because the 4x4 has a solid fly wheel conversion and the rewrite should not have been done
Can any one help ??
This 4x4 has been towing a car transporter 3 times a week and never gave any trouble before this Recall..
Its parked up now + unfit for purpose
Ive asked a friend who has an 01 3.2Did shogun for the lone of his.

Any chance the Egr valve is *beep* or playing about ? They had it off I belive they fitted an Egr cooler not an Egr valve on Recall.

I woundnt do anything to it for a min...

It seems to me totally wrong that you have taken your truck in for a recall with it working fine.. Mitsubishi have tinkered around and returned it in an unfit to drive state.
If you alter the work they have done at the moment you might end up with no chance of them being accountable for the above.
Have you called consumerdirect yet?

(all that said, it would hurt to make sure they have connected everything up correctly)  Wink

I have also noticed that my 4x4 has not got that diesel crack or bark in the mornings when the cold start should be working... I take it to the shop to keep the battery up.
And even then there's no bark when warm either , + Black smoke when booted and NO Go. . Ive been driving this 01 shogun 3.2Did and wish mine would pull the same.. Very disappointed with Mitsubishi that they say there's nothing wrong with my Shogun...

You could try this......

Find your EGR Valve, whip off the rubber pipe, pop in a suitable sized bung (a bolt or anything simmular) into the end of the rubber pipe..
This should act as a temp egr block... See how it runs.

Had a thought m8...

They may not have reset your ECU correctly after the rewrite... disconect all battery cables for a min of 2 hours... But forgods sake, make sure you know your radio code, and have the keyfob for your alarm/immobiliser. Give it a try
