Hi,

If you wanna go 4x4ing on the 28th May, Saturday, please shout out here

AND... are you  GENTLE or DIRTY!

I am SIAC and I am DIRTY  Twisted Evil

MEETING POINT

Type "pizza hut amesbury" (without the " ") into google maps and there's a truck car park right next to it, plenty of space for 20ish cars.

Aim to be there for 0945 'cos were leaving at 1000hrs

Co-Operative Garage, off A303
Solstice Park Services,
Amesbury
Wiltshire

TERRAIN

For anyone worried about damage the only way its likely to happen is if you drive like a loony yourself - if a loony you might break a strut or something when you bounce down hard,

You might get a scratch you might get a stonechip thats 4x4ing

It'll be a nice bimble across some great views with bumps and, if it rains, some mud if you dont like what you see, you drive round it there's no pressure

TYRES

AT's are great but you'll get away with road tyres and a tow rope

ROUTE

Going East through to CCDA (where Clarkson raced the tank in his RR Sport!), then West to German Village and the shooting range and bunker, then North to finish at West Lavington pub,
There are lots and lot's of byways and great views, it's quite dry so not too many puddles currently.
Possibly ending with a FREE CAR WASH!!!  (thanks MadKiwi for the great idea  Wink ) FREE CAR WASH

To be fair, it'll likely be more dusty than dirty (unless it rains which is a strange thing to wish for when you're camping, but still)

There are some tracks and an area called German Village where you will bash the underneath slightly, perhaps get stuck, not really suited for road tyres etc, but still not hardcore enough to ruin a car or bash bodywork unless you're a nutter. AND, there are always side "wimp-out" tracks to nearly all of the harder routes.

For the shinies or those that want a gentle drive, a lot of the Plain can be a drive across farm tracks with some great views, the worst you'll come across is a puddle.
