Search again - this has been discussed in huge depth many, many times.

Use the search term: low AND emission AND zone

Yep - if it's listed as anything other than an estate car on the V5C then you need to get it changed.

Basically it seems some importers guess when filling in forms rather than looking up what it should be. The Shogun is listed on the DVLA database as an estate car, so the Pajero should be too.

I bet it doesn't look like a 'light 4x4 utility' vehicle either. Think what the Aussies call a 'ute'...

Paj/Shogun/Montero is an estate car. Just quite a big chunky one Smile

Philip could you do me a massive favour or anyone with 3dr could you take a picture of you v5 and send it to me so i can prove to the DVLA that mine should be list as a Estate car.

they either need prof from MSC or images of the car and prof other cars are classed as Estate.

Just to add on this topic that I was also told by the DVLA to get a letter from Mitsubishi to confirm the body type was an estate. I contacted their customer services by filling a form in on the mitsubishi uk website and within 10 minutes had a reply, which requested the vehicles vin number . They are sending the confirmation letter out to me today. I can send it to the DVLA with the v5 and thats all thats needed - allegedly

Can I just inform anyone who has a 4x4 vehicle in London that has been told it won't meet the new low emissions directive, to contact VOSA and ask if their vehicle has been classified incorrectly. I did this for my Mitsubishi Pajero, 7 seat 4x4. It was an import and was classified wrongly as a utility vehicle. After a lot of effort by a lovely lady called Ann Marie at VOSA, in Swansea, they manag...ed to get the DVLA to re-classify all Pajeros as MPV vehicles and thus, to be exempt from having a £3,000 filter installed or having to sell the vehicle outside of London. The arbitary way that TFL has tried to class thousands of vehicles was truly ridiculous. My vehicle has a 2.5 diesel engine but as an import, always returns a low emission result in MOTs. It seems though, that any car of a similar age and engine is totally exempt from the new controls, even if it is a knackered old smoker that belches out CO2 by the bucket load. I feel like I have contributed to saving hundreds of Pajero owners in London, the cost of a filter installation, or having to purchase a new vehicle. Three cheers for VOSA!!!!!!!!! Call VOSA on 01792 454363 and they'll give you all the info.
