Thanks Tiger,

So it should go like this:

Maximum single tyre load at max pressure (65psi) is 1323lbs

1323lbs x 2 tyres = 2646lbs

Caravan weight is 2138lbs

2138 is 81% of 2646

81% of 65psi = 52psi per tyre 8) 8) 8)

Does this sounds right............???

I've not used my Paj with the caravan yet; only got it in December. It's a K reg SWB 2.5 auto. Hoping to get out with it next week though. I'm used to towing with a Volvo estate, they recommend higher pressures when towing Question .
Do I need to bump the tyre pressures up on the Paj when towing? The markings on the tyre wall say 55psi, I guess this is a maximum figure. What do you guys do? Question

Hi, I tend to put 32 in the back and 30 in the front when towing. I have All Terrain tyres and it does make towing more stable.

Usualy have 29 front and 26 rear when not towing so not sure if these numbers are deffinatly correct but they certainly make towing more stable with my Paj.  Wink

solo you should keep to 30 psi all round.

When towing, the handbook states the rears should be increased to 40psi

Ive got a 2.5 exceed auto diesel with rough terrain large tyres. They are recommended at 34 and I leave them at that. Tried them with 40 psi and found it unstable. Knock off overdrive in certain towing situations ie approaching roundabouts, high wind, very wet on motorway and other roads. For more control no overdrive used. Yet to try 4 wd to imrove control in seriously bad conditions on motorway for short periods.  We do tow with Alko towing system on the caravan and is well worth it for stability. Slower towing up the hills of Devon and Cornwall conserves diesel. Hope this helps.  sue.

Thanks guys, I'll try bumping them up to 35 and see how it feels.
On the Volvo (which was auto too) I used to knock the overdrive off all the time whilst towing, which was what Volvo said in the handbook.

A word of warning I have towed vans for nearly 40 years and every van that I have had the tyre pressures on the van have been different I would suggest that you check with the manufacturer as to what they should be or there may be a plate on the side of the van  (similar to a VIN ) which may indicate the tyre pressures HTH
