ahh, thats where we went wrong,we went as far as the a11 and turned back,i thought it was odd as i remembered pedders way altho 8odd yrs ago,the os map just shows pedders way as national trail so when we came across pedders way and every section was footpath we gave up thinking i was mistaken,i just didnt go past thetford.we just do icknield way trail, brockley cnr to culford and iclingham to shravedell heath which are all a nice drive but all quite tame compared to braintree.so national trails are a mix of footpath and legal for motors, how are they marked tho as on the os map it doesnt distinguish betweeen footpath and driveable route?

Sorry to piggy back your post but i am having a job finding green lanes in the thetford area. Have you got an markers as where to start. Also that pedders way from the bp mcd roundabout at swaffam, how far up can you go and how hard is it.

hi mate, easiest way to find green lanes is spend 4.50 on an os map from somewhere like dashforit. theres a good half day doing the heath and from barnham etc.theres 3 main trails plus a few that criss cross them all marked as byways, peddars way is the confusing one as its marked as a national trail but the bottom section as actuall footpath.ive driven all these lanes on my own and only once got stuck for ten mins(glad i took a spade)there well driven trails so weekends you see plenty of other laners out in case you need assistance, yrs back we drove lanes most of the way from thetford upto hunstanton area.theres alot to explore but you need an os to navigate between them.
