Greetings

I bought my 2.8TD LWB (1995) last week, and decided to tug our Bailey Pageant (17' 1070kg) up to Dartymoor for the weekend, just to see how it tugs.

Boy, am I chuffed!... Pulled like a steam-train and all I had to do was flick out of overdrive on long drags: The long hill up to Sowerton Cross (Okehampton) from our side is a killer if the revs drop, and you can't get a run at it nohow, so it's a real Dr-aa-gg: Used to kill our old Trooper .... But not the Shogun; took it at a Canter!

In passing.... I know there's always going to be debate over whether a stabiliser's necessary on a chunky tug.... Well, my stabiliser leaf popped out as I'd fitted it one hole too high, and the outfit was considerably less forgiving when the speed snuck up to 68mph. Luckily, the missus had packed clean keks for me, but I had to slow down a tad, just the same.

I sorted the tow-ball/stabiliser heights out before we came home, and it now tugs even better (and quicker Twisted Evil )

Hayle Timelord....

Sorry....

Hayle in August? You're a glutton for punishment, you are!

You'll probably have time to pop in for a cuppa or three.... Just leave the outfits in the Car-Park (Sorry - Traffic-jam ) on the A.30 just past the end of the Bodmin By-pass: We're a couple of miles from there, so you'll have plenty of time to walk over and back Confused The queue won't have moved much in an hour or so!

We had a most enjoyable fortnight just outside Brecon last July: Trotted up and down the Beacons to our hearts' content..... 'Ansome, it was.

All the best
Pete

I suppose staying local doesn't interest us too much, although we'd probably enjoy it Embarassed

You said it.... Cornwall gets so conjested in the summer that we just go to the beach when the sun's out, and keep our heads down when it's not; it's just not worth the hassle to try to get anywhere on a wet day.... everywhere's f'lup!

In spring and autumn we push off out-of-county to the wide open spaces.
