managed another 4 break downs last night - Oh Joy!!
Just wanted to check something with you guys as I am not 100% on the answers I am getting from my dealer.
Got P0299 error last night - Turbo Underboost. The Garage have said this is to do with a faulty ERG Valve which had been blanked off.
I did also have P2413 (Exhaust gas Recirc System Performance)
I have a couple of Questions
1 - Blanking the ERG Valve as many of you have done, will this cause the Engine Managment light to come on and still get P2413 errors?
2 - Would Turbo underboost have any relation to the ERG errors?
3 - Should I scrap the car and call it a day!!
car is a 2008 3.2 Diamond auto.
Many thanks

Total bull as blanking off the EGR has nothing to do with the turbo boost pressure.
These have a variable vane turbocharger, basically the vanes alter their angle or pitch to give increased boost pressure and flow for a given engine RPM and load, this is ECU controlled so I would suggest checking the wiring from the ECU to the turbocharger, I would also check the wastegate as these are the pressure limiting valve to stop excess turbo pressure from reaching the engine and they often corrode and stick slightly open, or get dirt in them which causes them to leak pressure; then I would check the boost pressure sensor as if this is defective you will get a false pressure reading and a fault code. |

Sounds like the vanes in the turbo charger are blocked with residue. Seen this fault occur on a lot of vag tdi's and it's almost always been the turbo at fault.
You can get foam cleaner to clean them but it's only a temporary fix.
New turbo time I'm afraid. |

Thanks Guys,
The boost pressure sensor has been changes. If there is a build up of *beep* in the turbo would a De-Coke help? They did the too.
