Covering many thousands of km a year on dirt  (lose gravel) roads, I engage FWD and stay there until back on tar ( a Gen 1 cannot be driven on tar with TC locked).

The final few lines of assassin's mail is so true, better control, better braking, steering, road holding. Do it if your transmission permits.

Definitely more positives in 4wd for towing in my opinion, especially with more weight and in adverse conditions, however braking is not improved as warned in the manual.Might help control on a bend braking in wet,to aid steering etc,but stopping distances are just the same.

yep, I think I'll keep it in 4H when towing larger weights now we've cleared up that wind up isn't an issue. I've towed a 22ft twin axle caravan weighing around 1200kg in 2wd no problem, but towing a modified discovery on a trailer is a serious load so want to make it as easy as possible for the old girl, and safety is more important than fuel economy.

Yes best way as also spreads load through drive train too instead of just rear diff doing all the work .I found when tested mpg wise I lost about 40 miles iirc a tank,or a couple of mpg..........change in driving has more difference.

Hi guys, I found this tow company, I recently called them to help me to tow my truck in the middle of the road. Who else here already experience their service?
