Injection pump timing

Hi.. First day and first post.. Amazing forum...
1. Does the injection pump have to be removed to alter the fuel timing?
2. Is it correct that once pump is fully installed/inserted the timing hole in the injection pump drive gear should be OUT of line???

1. You can advance or retard the pump timing without removing it. Just loosen the two no. 14 nuts that twist the pump clockwise to advance and counterclockwise to retard.
2. Once the pump is fitted the gear moves one notch down but the timing hole should remain in line
