Have you driven the route before? If not, don't do it on your own - if something more terminal that getting stuck in mud happens (engine failure, broken propshaft etc) then even a powerful electric winch isn't going to help you much. But another vehicle can tow you home. Do you have a CB, and know someone who can help will be listening? Don't rely on mobile phones, you could be out of signal or battery. |

yes many times used to be four of us up there but they dont want to play any more
so im on me own now i carry 5ltrs of fresh water camping stuff and an aire rifle
i like eating bunnys very good at starting a camp fire for cooking and eating
its just if i get stuck because even the easy lanes have there realy boggy parts
i used to have a highly moded range rover never taken the paj off road yet and a part from the tyres
its standard cant afford a big winch yet thats why im thinking about a 4 tone hand winch
and to make things wors i lost my lower right leg in a motor bike smash but im still up for anythink |

I would look online, maybe some local off road clubs as any 4x4 club will do if share same interest ,failing that and you do go alone then make sure everything you may need(including something to sleep in and keep warm) is in the boot.As rich said best not to go alone for obvious reasons .If you do go pics
Winch or not if trucks not a runner its useless anyway Also if you know someone with a 4x4 who isnt going have them on call as no AA van will be coming |

I'm only in thatcham,
I'd meet up and go with you. I believe the ridgeway opens for vehicles on the 30 April.
Let me know if you venture out this weekend |
