Heard some rumours that adding 300ml to a 60 litre tank will be beneficial ?
Any long term results from you guys already trying it ? |

I would think adding oil, 2 stroke or even normal engine oil, will increase lubrication in the fuel pump. This can`t be a bad thing, diesel fuel has lubrication as you buy it from the pumps....but a little more wouldn`t hurt. |

I do this in my Discovery and did it in my old Mondeo. There is a slight improvemnt in MPG and the engine runs quieter. This is common proctice in other parts of the world and pictures of stripped down engines seem to indicate less wear.
Best to get JASO FC (FB will do too), mineral or semi-synthetic (DO NOT USE SYNTHETIC!!!) and low ash. Modern diesel has far less sulphur in it than it used to and so using 2SO helps replace some of the lubricating properties lost with the removal of the sulphur. |

I asked the question of a mechanic whilst mine was in the garage today. How does veg effect emissions at mot? His reply was that it would make it cleaner and he has a disco that goes every year, 300 tdi, and flies through emissions, first time every time. Apparently this guy uses 2stroke in his mix but he didn't know the ratios etc. |

As I understand it, a lot of the noise from the pre-common rail diesels comes from the fuel pump.....so extra lubrication will help it quiet down the pump....also, running veg will slow the burn of the fuel slightly, so will quieten combustion, mostly at tick over....my 3.2 DID runs quieter with a veg/derv mix |

Well, I gave it a try.
Initial impressions are that my truck is running a little quieter and smoother. |

Put a teacup amount of outboard two stroke oil in a week ago, has made things quieter and smooth think mpg might be better too. |

I just done this too, added about 200ml of 2 stroke to 30 litres of diesel. Haven't driven it yet but will see if i notice any difference over the course of a few fill-ups. |

I've just added some 2 stroke at the last visit to the pump and I must say, it's sounds considerably quieter when cruising, more responsive and not sure yet but I reckon mpg might be up too. Always a bonus! |

Anyone tried any solvents to thin veg oil? as opposed to petrol. I am looking for something thats not going to *beep* the seals etc in the fuel system. Thought about kerosine but it has a trace dye in it so it would be unwise. |
