Hi Guys and girls,

I'm hoping you may be able to shed some light on some error codes i have since. I took it in to run the diagnostics on it as now and again it starts to run lumpy and kicks a lot of white smoke out of the exhaust, when it does the revs drop dramatically and sometimes it will stall (this happens mostly when i am waiting at junctions or traffic lights)

The guy did clear the error codes but they came back straight away

The codes are:

00088 (0058)

51 EGR POS SENSOR

52 VGT CONT PRS

00085 (0055)

31 CAN COM

00083 (0053)

00082 (0052)

00081 (0051)

Hopefully its not something major as i'm having to sell it so could really do without a big outlay before i sell it.

Thanks in advance

Paul

The codes are not right.
Should all be 2 digits until common rail.
You used a aftermarket scanner.
Prob is its hit and miss if code is actually the prob.
It needs mut2 or carman.

How did you get the codes? What machine? Auto or manual?
Stalling usually means the pump.

I took it to a friend of a friends garage who is "apparently" and i quote "poo hot at these things"

I cannot remember what make machine he used but he has just purchased a new one since i last took it down so i will nip it down again

When he plugged it in did the management lights flash on the dash?
Steady flash is ok
Long flash then quick flashes gives codes.
Ie two long flashes and three quick flashes means code 23
Codes can be got with a piece of wire. the instructions are on here.

right i seem to have got the codes although the do not seemingly lead to anything

these are the lights which were flashing:

Centre Diff - constantly flashing with no pause

Neutral Light - Flashing quickly with no pause

Engine management - continues to flash with a pause

Parking brake - 1 long flash then pause

ABS Light - 1 long then two quick flashes

do the centre diff, neutral and engine management lights flash anyway when the 1 port is ground?

What are the "regular" problems that can cause juddering with lots of white smoke out of the exhaust? is it advisable to get the injectors cleaned to see if this sorts out the problem? When i took it to put it on the diagnostic machine the guy cupped a hand of the white smoke and said it smells of diesel so could it be that too much is being pumped in? I have no idea as i'm not mechanically minded

Any help would be really appreciated

Thanks

Im affraid its not looking good for you.
There is a sensor in the bottom of your pump, iths the fuel quanity adjuster.
If you mechanic does not know how to test then unfortunately its a recon pump or get yours refurbed.
Not cheap.

Most likely pump needing rebuilt.
As i have said many times check fuel filler pipes if they are damaged rotted holed take your pick.
Pump probably corroded in the rotor head.

Forget them prices there is a chap near you that does exchange units.
I was speaking to him today about a vp44.
I am after a exchange and only use a handful of people to rebuild.
Hes a bit dearer than who I normally use but this customer is going to hire another truck so another £ 100 is nothing.
You will need your numbers off the side.
His number is 01618724755.
I deal with stuart but you wont need him.
Otherwise I use diesco in ipswich.
If you get me some fault codes I might be able to help a bit more.
They must be off a mut 2 or carman.
I dont know the codes from other makes.
Plus there nornally wrong.
The 43tcv is a common 1 and its the sensor in rear, sometimes full of gunk.

sorry for the delay in replying but i am now a bit further forward with the fault.

It seems to be a valve that should open when the engine is cold to put more fuel in, but this is working the wrong way round. It seems to open up when the engine is warm. The problem is i now have to find the sensor that runs this valve but i cannot seem to find a wiring diagram.

I have attached two pictures of the valve, in the hope that somebody recognises it and knows what or where the sensor could be
