Hi Dave

Do a search, there is loads on the subject of the pros of doing it, some members have reported mpg gains, some slight power gains, and reduction in exhaust smoke.

Had to do mine to get it through its MOT.

Give me a shout if you want a hand Dave.

Its only a five minute job, and I think I might still have some ally
plate left to make a blank.

Dave there are basicly two ways of doing it.
The easiest way to check is to see if the vaccum hose has been disconnected from the EGR. Failing that you will have to remove the EGR and see if you have a gasket or blanking plate fitted.

telling me stevo mate, it seems to have taken an age. i decided to take the bull by the horns and do some of the work myself. the last time she was in the garage she was there for 2 weeks. they did numerous bits and pices on her to cure the squeeling noise. well after getting her back she was sort of okay. to be honest it was just good to have her back again. 1 week late the squeelin sound was back again, instead of just handing it back and saying " it aint right " and loosing it for god knows how long i decided to do it myself. i took out all the new gaskets ect that they had fitted. i found that the gaskget from the bottom of the pipe that leads to the egr valve was blowing. it was brand new but i dont think it was fitted right. a couple of hours late i had done all gaskgets that they had done but the difference is now they done leak. that saying springs to mind, if you want a job doing right, do it yourself!. she is now running sweeter than she has done since i got her. very quite, very little smoke. just the diesel pump to turn up now. but i am just chuffed to be in the driving seat again.
sorry for stealing your post dave mate........... i will runs away now before you throw some thing at me Very Happy
