ABS light is permanently on and apparently the codes are...

81. G sensor not initialized
82. yaw rate sensor  not initialized
83. steering wheel sensor  not initialized
84. transfer case switch  not initialized

any ideas whereabouts these sensors are?

apparently all the wheel sensors readings are ok

I'm going to guess Mark 3 or Mark 4, as the Mark 2 codes are much lower numbers than those.

Seeing as its multiple sensors that appear to be faulty, i would disconnect the wiring plug to the ABS control unit and give it a good dose of contact cleaner in the first instance as some of the contacts may be corroded or dirty.

81. G sensor not initialized ------ located under the centre console
82. yaw rate sensor  not initialized ------ Don't know where this located
83. steering wheel sensor  not initialized --- i would assume somewhere at the back of the steering wheel, Possibly above where the indicator stalks are???
84. transfer case switch  not initialized --- one of the 5 switches on the top of the transfer case

I don't know about the Mark 3, but on the Mark 2 it's behind the right hand trim panel in the boot.

On a mk3 it is part of the HBB unit, shogun sport will be the same as an L200.

Did you get to the bottom of this? My light was on constantly, and when I took it to a proper Mitsi authrized mechanic with proper diags it read 30+ codes just on the ABS! (The engine was completely fine). Mines a 3,0 V6 2005 Warrior.
Basically, he reset the codes, and we took it for a 500 metre ride, only to discover that when I went below around 5mph the ABS thought that the rear LH wheel had stopped turning so the ABS was kicking in, hence funny embaressing ABS noise when parking and in traffic! He said, first change the sensor, which I did (£13 with 12 month guarantee off ebay) and now the ABS appears to function normally.

Now the interesting bit. At first, the ABS light came on when you turned the engine on and went off after 2 seconds as it was supposed to, this got gradually dimmer until now theres no ABS light at all! (An MOT fail). So, now I'm obsessed with sortinjg it completely and like you I found the unit took that stupidly secure plug off the back (did you find the seperate power one underneath it?) gave them both a good squirt of GT85 (light lube with water dispersal qualities I use on my push bikes). No difference whatsoever.
NOW, did you spot the two relays bolted to the inner wing just in front of the ABS unit? I took both off, unplugged, cleaned and the one nearer the front, the smaller one that relays between the sensors AND THE DASH LIGHT was seriously corroded with cream coloured dry goo. I've ordered a replcement that should arrive today and will report back but I'm hoping that after fitting this and another reset we'll be in the clear. It's hard to imagine how a Yaw sensor could fail. I'm told that these trucks have a very good ABS system and that its almost always the sensors and relays that go.
