|
|
Hi guys
Is the challenger 2.8 the same set up as the pajero 2.8, in terms of fuel pump etc with respect to running on veg oil?
My 2.8 paj I have now loves the veg, so do I cause its a huge saving.
So can I get a newer version of the pajero in the guise of a challenger and still run on veg with no mods???
Cheers |

Not sure what year challenger to go for.....
I understand they might have electronic fuel pumps.
Not sure how suited that would be to waste veg oil??? |

My 96 Challenger runs fine of veg apart from starting, may take a second turn of the key and runs lumpy So I run 50/50 mix with bio |

Are you a member of Costco? If so, get the KTC veg oil, £14.79 for 20 litres |

Have a read of the SVO/WVO/Biodiesel forum. There's a lot of information in there about what oils to use (in the UK, rapeseed is most likely and cheapest) and how to use them (start with a 50/50 mix - mixed in a can outside the tank then poured in), plus how to keep records so you comply with the law (you can use up to 2500 litres a year tax free but you must keep records that you can produce for HMRC if required to show you know you're not exceeding that).
If you don't have access to the big cash and carry places, you shouldn't ever need to pay more than £1 a litre. For example Farmfoods have 10 litres for £9.95. |

I'm also running a 50/50 mix of KTC brand vegetable oil from Costco with diesel in my 2.8 Challenger. I mix it outside of the tank using jerrycans. No problems at all so far, apart from predictable 'burger van' teasing from friends with modern vehicles that won't run on veggie oil. I put it down to jealousy.
Costco oil is very good value. There's a branch in Bristol. As rich r wrote, the max you can use per year legally is 2500 litres, so that's just over 200 litres each month. So 10 x 20 litre containers, which you would easily fit in the back of your Challlenger if you were to do a monthly Costco run - and have the space to store it. |

Hi, can I ask a silly question? Probably been asked many times before.
Is a 2.8 easily modified to run on veg oil? |
