Was on here somewhere. 2 stroke used as an additive. |

If you use old engine/gearbox oil it will have to be put through a fine filter 1st. |

That's what I thought!
Can't be any good using old oil in a Diesel engine? Or generally engine at all?
2 stroke oil maybe but not old oil. |

Used engine oil is full of fine particles of metal, strong acids and all kinds of stuff you really don't want to be passing through a fuel pump or injectors, and certainly not burn under pressure. It's also highly illegal to use it as a road fuel due to it's toxicity. It can be reprocessed into a fuel or lubricating oil, but it takes a lot more than just straining it through a J-cloth and chucking a bit of methanol at it. Silkolene for example recycle used engine oils - using a huge, complex chemical plant.
Stick to vegetable oils for fuel. Safe and legal.
You can use low-ash two-stroke oil as an additive in low concentrations as an upper cylinder lubricant though. |

The best thing you can do with used engine oil is take it to your local recycling place and tip it into their big tank. From there it'll go to be properly cleaned, filtered and chemically refined to produce new, lighter oils (a lot ends up as kerosene for heating oil).
In the bad old days we used to use used engine oil to paint sheds and fences to waterproof them. But that's very bad for the environment, and it's pretty carcinogenic stuff too (but then, so was creosote) |

Best thing to do its use it on plastic trim. Works brilliant and it actually lasts.
Blathered my range rover's bumpers, mirrors, steps, door strips, the lot. left it for the day until the next morning when I wiped away the excess with kitchen roll. Looks brilliant now, not grey and horrible like before. miles better than any bumper shine or expensive trim dressing. |
