Hi, I received a letter from Mitsubishi back in November about EGR Cooler Service Campaign.  I finally got round to having the work done last Monday (7th April).  Took about an hour and a half.  I have no idea what they did or what the campaign was about.  I drove the car home, 20 odd miles, with no apparent problems.

Up until yesterday I had only driven the car to the shop and back, about two or three miles but yesterday I went about twenty miles (there and back) and noticed on the way away that I had no heating.  The temperature gauge took a while to move up and went to slightly over half then back to what I would call the normal level of just on the half.  However on the way home, the gauge went up to over three quarters and stayed there.  I was nearly home so carried on.  Car was steaming when I got home.

Have filled radiator again and there were a few drips of water under the car but nothing major.  Will try again today to see if the radiator is holding water.  The water bottle beside the radiator was full when it happened, the water being well over the fill mark.

Has anyone else had the same problem after this service campaign

My car is a Shogun swb 05 plate and I have had absolutely no problems with this car so it is going to be really annoying if problems have started after a service recall.

Sorry for waffling on a bit but if anyone has any comments on this it would be much appreciated.

Sounds like you have a water cooled EGR system. These can fail and give similar symptoms to head/gasket failure. Have you two rubber hoses going to it?

Hi, thanks for your reply Geodrome.  I have no idea if it has two hoses or not.

Got in touch with my local garage and they will look at it this week.  Probably nothing to do with work carried out last week, but seems to be like a lot of things, once you start something else is bound to go wrong and cost you a fortune!
