Hi Everyone
My Shogun just cut out while driving - AA breakdown said no fuel to engine. Found Mark on the site and rang him but couldn't determine a cause over the phone so he came down to Surrey to fix it. Mark showed me how an internal part had broken and mangled the pump. Unfortunately the second hand unit I had sourced was also defective and he spent a long time swapping bits about to build a new one plus replacing a broken casting which he supplied from his stock. I reckon I am a fairly competent DIY mechanic but this guys knowledge and experience is unsurpassed and the more I saw him working the more thankful I was, and all the extra work- a fiver. Well done Mark!

It was rather interesting, the metal peg on the inside of the cold start device that alters the cold start pump timing had snapped off and dropped into the pump destroying it internally, this is the second time i have seen a pump destroyed in this way.

Worked out the replacement pump cold start device was seized so fitted original cold start to it knowing the fault can never happen again  Very Happy

Is there a weakness in the cold start device?

I only ask because mine went in yesterday for the Pitman Arm recall and they did the cold start lever modification at the same time.
