Right, I know jack all about caravans... tried to get the Mrs into camping but she's not too keen so thinking about picking up a caravan.
This has been sat in a shed at work for about 7 years. I'm thinking over offering him £250/300 quid for it, giving it a coat of paint and redo the inside. ...
Is there anything I need to be aware of, look out for etc and is that about right money for it? Only damage I can see is one window is cracked.

I don't need to worry if she boots me out, I'd have a shelter built and a fire going and a rabbit cooking before my stuff even hits the lawn! Laughing

It's been stored under cover all that time??

Shame really, as you need to check for damp / leaks etc, unless

If you did get it, you'd then go about 'resealing' it... Awning rails, lockers, doors, windows etc before taking it outside.

As for the inside, you could rip it out and start again (kits available on the net / breakers etc).

Or clean it out / re-upholster and then enjoy.  Cool

I would love a roof tent, help to get that mpg down a bit. Laughing
I have 3 tents as it is, want something she can be a little more comfortable in.
Yep, it's been there for 7 years at least, never moved and never seen the rain in all that time.
I can store it there if needed and even work on it there.  My mum is handy with a sewing machine so that side would be sorted easily enough.

We just recently bought the same van for £80.
Its for the horse yard, its not bad, well now looking at this 1 its now me think lol.
I spent a day cleaning it out.
theres no heater in ours.
We not had it long but other weekend we took out caravan and thought how did they manage back then, no hot water no way near as comfy and no cupboards,  well compared to a hobby lol.
id say its all good fun, gives you chance to let your hair down and get out of the house.

This is pretty clean inside, has heaters, double glazed. Just wants cleaning up and a bit of modernisation.

Ah missed your post.
dont go this far down.
ours is not double glazed, ours a 85 model.
but just to let you know so youre safe.
I finally got a gas bottle.
connected it up as wanted to use cooker,  at mo on camping stove, takes small tins of gas.
when bottle on I noticed theres a leak near the wheel, the waste water side.
bare this in mind as when you out in van you same as everybody else will leave the bottle on.
certainly makes you think.
I have never checked our caravan, bought it a year old and I guess you just dont realise how much time passes and how easy it is for something to go wrong.

Well I finally got it, paid a hefty price of £0.00 for it. Should give me a better budget to get it cleaned and refitted inside.

Wow, thats a better deal than 1 I got for horse yard lol.
and yours is in much better condition.
just bare in mind what I said about the gas leak, mine was leaking underneath.
I ended up disconnecting under sink and putting a new piece of pipe in to go to the bottle outside door.
The fridge still works lol.
I was amazed by that.

Cheers! Will take note Jimmy.  Will probably have a load of questions regarding the gas anyway as never used it before.
First things are new tyres, inspect the brakes and if possible find someone who brakes them and I wouldn't mind find an info plate (if they have such a thing) so I know exactly what year/model to aid in getting parts.

Yeah tyres are a must.
I was recently caught out on our horse box.
all tyres like new, box hardly been used, tyres last time I looked was slightly perished.
yeah lets just say I got lazy on checking them.
got miles away from home to find tyres rough.
I know yours look identical to ours, ours a 1985.
before you go anywhere see if fridge Is working
with your fridge run it on gas 1st to see if alloy in freezer gets cold.
run hob 1st to push air out of gas line.
then start fridge afterwards.
Wait a hour then check freezer.
this is after you checked gas lines.
fridge when been stood doesnt like to work until its had a blast on gas.
well thats how our hobby caravan is.
if fridge still poor you can remove it then shake it up to mix the gasses again.
Then normally there great again.
