|
|
LWB 2.8 94L.....when the caravan is hitched up it looks to high at the front end, seems to tow ok though.
Does any one else have this problem? I have seen a couple of discovery's with a "drop plate"should I be using one of these to get the height lower?
Thanks in advance Stu |

You could use a drop plate to lower the front of the van.
I went past that notorious spot on th A64 last year, near the roundabout, where they stop
the Caravans and check them over.
I passed a Copper about 100 yards before the spot and he squatted down as I went past,
(no he wasn't having a number 2's). He was clocking whether the van sat level.
Didn't stop me but it is the sort of thing they look for.. |

Do you not have to have a bar that accepts a drop plate Vanner?

I suppose it will, although it does have two sets of holes.
It sits pretty level anyway.

Top of the ball to the ground should be between 15"-18". As the others say, Use a Drop plate for about £4 to correct it or the back of the van may connect with the ground when you leave your drive etc, or the more expensive solution - buy a double axle van |

Drop plates work - but ....
The latest EU laws now prohibit almost everything- and towbars now have to be type-approved with the right EU marks etc. Adding a drop plate could in theory overstress a tow bar, and so unless the tow bar manufacturer has certified his towbar with a drop plate the boys in blue and/or the insurance companies could get funny.
Police state - no of course not, we're a democracy - aren't we .......?? |
