Looking for some help on,
Shogun 3.2 Di-D 2005 Elegance. 106000 miles.
Decided to change from my 2.3 shogun 17 years old. sorry I had to do that as the engine gearbox and all running parts were great. It was starting to rust away badly.
Bought a 2005 shogun diesel 3.2 automatic.
I have had it 3 months now.
I have replaced the 2 front wheel bearings, removed the belt from the air conditioning unit as it was screeching, new oil pressure switch as it was leaking, changed the steering rack end ball joint, changed the steering rack fluid as it was black, four new Tyre.

Here is the problem I am having with it now.
It is a weird one.
Faint whining noise coming from ???.
This noise is intermittent, sitting stationary and on the move.

Here is the dilemma.
Press the brake and the noise stops for a few seconds.
Turn the power steering and it stops again.
Open the passenger back door and the noise sound as it is coming from the floor.
My Son put his hand on the exhaust box under the floor and the noise disappeared again.
I took it to 2 different exhaust places and they told me there was nothing wrong with my exhaust.
They could not here the noise as it comes and goes.

This is a weird one on me. Any help or suggestions would be appreciated.

Sam. Crying or Very sad

Hi,
Thank you for your reply. Can you tell me why the noise goes away when I touch the exhaust box. It also goes away when I turn the steering wheel.

Easy way to check, turn key to running position and pump the brake pedal until the pump starts up.

Engine not running, that way you will hear the pump as soon as the pressure drops.
