When I read this forum I find that most sections leave the topics marked as unread when I have read them. I have to specifically Mark All Topics Read to get the unread indicator to go out on the index.

It's not my browser or the forum software because I also read the Isuzu Trooper and Land Cruiser forums and they never do this and they both run on this forum software.

Anyone else seen this? Happens on all my machines, home and work, Linux, Windows and OSX with Chrome and Firefox.

When I log on to here I click the "View new topics since last visit" link.

Once I've read them they stay there even after a refresh.

If I close down my browser (Chrome) and open it up again and go to the same link then the ones I've read have disappeared.

Generally I blame Chrome's smart-ass performance tricks for most things like this, but it is odd that the other forums don't do the same as they run the same software.

I wonder if the clock is wrong on the server so there is a discrepancy over what you read and when.

After I've read them the title changes from bold to normal type after a refresh.

Can't be the server clock as the Pajero and Isuzu forums are on the same server.

Also noticed that when I click the little icon to take me to the first unread message in a topic I often get sent to the wrong page of messages, usually the page that was newest first time I visited on the day.

Annoying.

I always assumed that icon was to go to the last post in a thread.

First unread I thought. Either way it doesn't even take me to the last page if the last half the time.

Another thing to vex me.  Evil or Very Mad

The yellow icon takes me to the newest post and the white icon takes me to the last post - quite what the difference is between "newest" and "last" beats me. They both go to the last post in Chrome for me.
