Apologize in advance for length of post, but necessary to explain problem.
I have a yahoo mail account that I access through a shortcut on my desktop. Problem is I want to access it from my mobile phone and I have forgotten my password [this would not have occurred but they insisted I change it] To further exacerbate the problem when I try to change my password the response is sent to an email address that I have not used for years so again no password. Is there any way I can resolve this?
I was thinking maybe along the lines of finding it from my shortcut. I would need idiot style instructions.
All assistance appreciated. |

Access the account using the shortcut, add a known email address to your account then reset the password.
I doubt the password is contained within the shortcut, you have probably just saved it on your PC. |

Thank you h4rri for your fast response. I know I'm a total dimwit but how do I add a known account please
Put my simplicity down to old age [75] and only using computer for such things as Mail and F B..
Windows 10 has me totally confused but I am determined to conquer it. What other choice?? WINK.

Sign into Yahoo using the saved password on your PC. Look in the top right of the window and next to your name you will see a little cog
Click the cog
Click account info at the bottom of the list.
Click Account Security
Click Email Addresses
Click Add recovery address.
Now add a known email address into the the box and when you use the password reset it will send it to this address
Hope this helps. |

Thank you for your help. All went well up to click email addresses which was not on the options. however I got to a page that allowed me to choose security Questions and managed to change my password that way, so I think I have resolved it , it appears so on my mobile anyway. Damn nuisance that you can't use a previous password though, so I have written the new one down and noted it on my PC, so hopefully no future problems.
Thank you once again.
