So just to fill you all in on the middle story that has no pictures.

The insurance company gave us 3k for the silver shogun, "glad i insured the mods"

We popped to London and grabbed the black one for 2.2K And with the remaining the plan was to
start again and see how far we could get,

But when we were just finishing up with the insurance, they offered us to buy it back as is for £382
WELL THAT SIR, IS A NO BRAINER.

So we got it back, stripped all the tyres wheels, winch lights and anything else that was broken
from the new one, and the rear storage system.

And sold the then unmodified car to a friend that breaks them for £350 who  made that back of the engine and transfer box i believe,

So now i have a black standard sport, and a shed load of mods to fit lol.

So first thing on the list of jobs was to give her some much needed TLC,
she was nice and clean underneath, but not looked after as much as she deserved.

wanted to change the look of the front end, hated the orange parts of the lights and the grey inserts,
So i stripped the lights and sprayed the inserts gloss black, used chrome/orange buls,

Looks much better.

Clear side repeaters

PostPosted: Sat Apr 30, 2016 10:21    Post subject: Shogun Sport 7 Seat Conversion Reply with quote

One thing I was not doing is buying another car for the family, so a conversion took place...

Now these photos were taken as i did it, all the cuts and bolts are now complete.

Shogun Mk3 Fold away seat mounts, i needed to cut off the lip that sits under the floor of the Mk3 and the small tab at the front. I attached them to the seat closed the boot, clambered over the now 2nd row, and marked the holes.  I drilled a 3rd hole further back from the top for support.

Using 5mm Plate steel as a mounting plate, tacked to the floor.  Compared to how the 2nd row is bolted in this is overkill.

Defender Truck cab seat belts were perfect, i originally used the load restraint mounts but later added an additional hole as they were not quite 100% lined up.  Another small 5mm plate behind the 3rd point mount, “what an absolute nightmare that was to get behind the pillar.

Result was more leg room than the MK3 but slightly less height allowance.  13 YO son is now just short enough to use these seats.  at about 4 1/2 foot. "if you cut a little mor of the mount and find away to use the arch to secure it, you could gain another 1" of head room.

I am currently looking at getting the head lining a little closer to the roof.
