Sump Guards / Bash Plates / Skid Guards

Call em what you like - we've all got them.

I just had to remove one of mine and I got a bit of a shock.

The 2 front guards are secured by 6 bolts.
2 of these are shared by the back of the front guard and the front of the back guard - with me so far ?

So effectively the back guard is held by 4 bolts of which 1 was missing and 2 (both the back ones) were stripped. Shocked

If this dropped whilst driving - the consequences could be very nasty.

I had one shear on the rear one, so I had my son weld a bolt in its place Exclamation also would advise some copperslip smeared on the bolts with some anti-vibration washers, as this will stop corrosion and loosening Exclamation

OK - first I removed my rearmost one a long while ago partly cos I was taking the front one down so often and got sick of juggling the two. There is a seventh bolt to nowhere. Second, I thought I had stripped bolts where the front meets rear but replaced with slightly longer bolts and all's happy - the bolt length was too short see. With the side steps off and the plate off, guess what, I can work under the motor and get to all of it.

Trying to get this made sticky.

If one fell off at high speed and lifted the front of the car it could be a huge problem Evil or Very Mad
