Just looking at an Evo locally. Done 57000 miles, from 1998 and the guy wants 12500 Euros for it. Reasonable?

Hi Swede

There are a few on UK eBay at the moment. They range from fresh imports to long term UK cars, even a rally raid project.
Prices seem to range from £6,000 (7,800 Euro) with roughly 80,000 miles to £12,000 (15,600 Euro) for a pristine example with roughly 50-60,000 miles.
The higher end prices do not tend to sell well on eBay.
One with a broken engine (run with no oil) just sold on eBay for over £4000. (5200 Euro)

I know eBay is not the same as private sales but it gives you an idea about what is out there.

Also remember that unless you know exactly where it has been, you need to get all the oils, belts service stuff done and that quickly adds up!!

I hope it helps you Smile

Thanks, 'mouse !

This one is in pristine order. I was wondering whether it was a bargain though.

Clearly not as people will always be attracted to a cheaper car than a well maintained one.  Rolling Eyes

Then again, guilty as charged: I never trust fully that a car has been well maintained etc.

My Shogun was a 100000m, one owner car with the classic "caravan club" stickers on and regularly serviced by the local Mitsubishi dealers.
Still, first thing I did when I got home with it, was change the oil on engine, all diffs, auto-gearbox, new filters, engine flush, new mirco-filters, etcetc.  Confused

As long as its in good condition the price is great  - going from the eBay stuff.
That list of things you did straight away to your last vehicle will have to be done on the Evo for peace of mind.

The milage on the one your looking at is super low, the top end imports all seem to have about 60,000 ish miles.
My Import had claims to have 70,000 miles on it and is in unbelievable condition underneath.

Have you been for a drive in it?

I haven't driven it yet. I plan to go and see it this weekend.

He hasn't given me an answer yet on whether the cambelt has been done yet or why he is selling the car.

Anyway, if I am interested, I will probably bid him on the car. Petrol powered 4x4's don't sell well here and it's a RHD, which isn't practical in France.

I dunno. They all waffle on about these fuel problems and I haven't noticed anything here. There is fuel en the prices are just normal.

Plus, I think they'll run out of diesel more quickly than they run out of petrol given the number of mobile heaters are driving around here  Laughing
