Not many Independent specialists round these parts but this Guy (Rob' Whitbread) is going it alone with his Time served Main Dealer Mitsubishi (amongst other Jap') Technician based experience.
He has just purchased the very latest Mitsubishi Diagnostic equipment and is a specialist in 4x4's
I would also like to say he is a top bloke and a true gentleman.....dare i say a bit of an enthusiast as well (also read Whizz Kid !)

Hello Phil.
Been here yesterday, basicly just stop for information about vehicle healt check on my new pajero 2.8 td. I get a apointment one hour later. Nice.
After commin again at appo. time. Everything ready for my car. Car go to lift, rear shock absorber crak in half :/ all others look good. Price and part information 5 mins later. Then i ask for appoitment to fix this, and answer is NOW
Perfect, in the finish i have a engine service: all oil, liquid and filters, Automatic gearbox service: all oil, diferencials, front lights connection. Both rear shock absorbers, rear antirollbar.
Evrything at same day and same time, basicly with no appoitment for something like 4 hours work.
Then give lift in to city center and back.
2 x Rear Shock Absorber, anti roll bar, labour + VAT - 140 pounds
Engine service, all oils and filters + VAT - 160 pounds
Automatic transmission service, oils and etc + VAT - 160 pounds
Front lights connection free.
Everything together 460 pounds.
No weaiting for appoitment, very quick, very helpfull, very friendly.
Always have wait for my day in diferent garage very long, weak minimum.
Car go mutch better after automatic trans. service, changing gear in 1800 rpm and have much more power. Transmission oil ben nearly dry.
I will get there next time again.
Really thanks for tip Phil

Hi Derek. I think I may have bumped into you if that was you who arrived about 4ish? I'd taken my Shogun to Rob to change the ATF. If it was, I was the wally who was trying to start it up in drive...ahem.
Rob Seems like a knowledgeable bloke and very reasonable rate. I wish he was nearer to me in Sheffield though. How did you get on? |

wow.
you must have money to burn mate.
all those jobs are a doddle and anyone capable of holding a spanner can do them.
am not saying you have been over charged, don't get me wrong,
get santa to bring you a socket set and a few spanners and you will be quids in,
then its more money to spend on mods,
cheers mel |

Mate, don't make judgements about people you don't know. It's not a case of having money to burn, I know jack poo about car mechanics so I have to use folk who do know. This sort of thing might be a piece of piss to you but not everyone has that knowledge. If you know how to do stuff like that then great, I'm envious. Maybe you could offer to help me next time I need something doing? I'll even let you use my socket set and spanners. |

mate,
am not judging people at all.
the jobs listed above are easy, and if you read about them on here you will see how easy.
was just trying to give a heads up of how to save a few quid, but sounds like your not interested. |

I am interested and other folk have been really helpful and showed diagrams etc but it's something that's beyond my capabilities at the moment. If I had the space and a pit or something then I'd give it a go. Most people wouldn't know how to build a computer from scratch but I can do it blindfolded. Doesn't mean to say that any Tom, Dick or Harry can. |

yes that was me , made an appiontment for a week later
friday 13 th had engine oil, auto box oil, and rear diff oil flushed and replaced.
you should have seen the state of the rear diff oil god knows when that was last changed.
adjustment of front wheel bearing,
slight adjustment on stearing box
and all grease nipples greased
seems run better now but i havent used it since.
i will be going to work in it today so i will see how she goes.
yes these jobs are relitively easy to do but who wants to crawl around under a car in this weather
all in all pleased with the service i recieved .
now those jobs are done i can concentrate on minting her up
skid pans already off and painted.
should of kept my last shogun, how many times have we said that in our lives.
happy chritmas to all and keep posting |

Well,I'd always pay someone else to do it. I use the truck partially in relation to my business and I'm vat reg and I'm time poor. So putting receipts through the books and getting on with something else is always the best option.Plus whenever I do anything I never seem to have quite the right tool to complete the job.It always results in backwards and forwards to the shops. Quite frankly I have better things to be doing. |

Just visited Rob with my Paj this morning and he went through it for me, as I have not really been trusting local places I've had to take it to. Rob quickly spotted some things these garages had missed - including the fuel lines from the tank leaking quite badly! He spent a good while going over things with me watching at his side, diagnosing my 4x4 light issue etc, and then fixed the fuel line, changed my ATF, sorted a sheared bolt the AA had left me with, and checked and topped up my diffs/transfer box.
£95 including price of AT oil, very pleased with the service, and will be going back again to get some other bits sorted so I know my truck is 110%!!! |

Good news then about RW service garage......note , it's been a while since I recommended Rob down at Shaftesbury st.ind' est' in Derby.....i have been away for sometime ( not at Her Majesty's pleasure!!) Just living with other makes of vehicles but still keeping in touch with RW service centre and will be back there this week with my newly purchased mk3 SwB Shogun 3.2 4work....needs a new thermostat fitting and coolant change ready for winter....
...yes, I could do it myself but dark nights are upon us and I know Rob will do a good job and pressurized the coolant system, all for a good figure...plus he always has a keen eye to look over the vehicle for any other issues!
Worth mentioning that he works many late night evenings during the week as well...handy if you don't wish to go on a busy weekend!
I'm back |
