Hi All,

I hope I am not committing the cardinal sin of asking about something that has been covered so heavily, but I haven't found any threads covering EGR blanking on a 2008 Common Rail 3.2 engine.

I have recently had the engine light come on and the car go into limp home mode. My local garage has said that the inlet manifold is full of horrendous gunk and needs a good cleanout.

This will clearly re occur so I am more than a bit tempted to blank the offending EGR valve off.

I have seen lots of 2007 and older vehicles have the mod but not later.

Is there anyone on here that supplies a blanking kit for a 2008 3.2?

Also I have heard about a warning light that may appear and wondered what the best way to get rid of this was?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers

Mark

Have a read of THIS

It seems that the new MOT rules that are coming in this year will mean that blanking / removing the EGR valve will be a MOT fail.

Oh Eck, Thanks for the heads up!

When do these rules come in place?

If I had a few quid I would buy up all the second hand EGR valves of ebay.

Should be a roaring trade come 2019!

It may be worth looking at the  resistor mod instead then.

Cheers

I wonder why people throw things like that - anything I take off I keep, Just in case!

The resistor mod is just a way of electronically blanking it and if its done with bullit connectors or similar, it's completely reversible for mot. And at less than a pound to do, waaaaay cheaper than any blanking kit  Wink
