Just bought a Pajero Challenger 2.8 and wonder how to find out if it has a SVA cert.

On my Challenger the SVA number is shown in the V5 registration certificate. Para 4 K.

I don't have the original certficate though. Would it ever be needed?

No SVA is required for a vehicle that was older than ten years at the time of import, both my bB and the Pajero mini were simply fitted with rear fog lamps, taken for their UK MOT test, with the frame number (no VIN required unless newer than the ten year cutoff) on the certificate then the cars were registered and the MOT details updated with the registration numbers.

So unless your vehicle is younger than the end of its tenth year, you needn't worry and the cost of IVA can be spent on a UK spec radio, some fuel or maybe a good night out. Cool
