hi i have a shogun 3.2 did 07 diamond
i got the car last feb so nearly a year. it had to have a ofs drivers side headlight, for the mot, i was told it was expensive some £180. i'm asking can i just change the bulb, or is it the complete headlight. and do i have to take the bumper of to do it.
i've had the back off the bulb and the bulb out, but i didn't pull the wire any further, so can i change the bulb, as ive seen some bulbs on ebay with a cable/plug, will they stright plug in to mine? ps thank you everyone that views.

Im not sure what your after, what failed the mot a broken headlight or a blown bulb?
You can change just the bulb if thats whats gone, i think of the top of my memory there H4 bulbs which are dual working bulbs, so they have both high and low beam built into them. A H4 bulb has 3 connections and the plug goes straight into the back of it so there should be no cables from the bulb. Unless your truck is different to mine as it's newer.

If you have a damaged headlight, for instance a cracked glass or broken reflector then the whole unit will need to be changed, not something i have done on my 3.2 but i don't think it's a big job but not sure if you have to remove the bumper or not. There are in the headlight unit 3 bulbs, Main bulb(H4), side light (Wedge 501) and indicator (wedge 582).
Just looked on ebay at a picture of the headlight i think it has 3 screws one directly on top, one on the innerside top and one on the innerside bottom, the outer bottom looks like a locating pin so no screw, so guessing you dont have to remove the bumper. But don't take my word for it as i have never removed one (on a 3.2).

Oh almost forgot if you do change the whole unit dont forget the electric headlight leveling plug that goes into the back of the headlight. Just another clip in connection.

If it is the xenon unit then you can change the bulb but it will be a different colour and if you can live with it then fine, if not you need both ballasts and bulbs from the same source to keep the colour the same.

No you don't remove the headlight for xenon or H4 halogen and if it is the H4 halogen then check the connector as when you push them onto the bulb it can push the terminals back into the plug and you don't get a contact and the bulb won't work. You can unclip the plug plastic and remove the connectors and push them onto the bulb individually and wrap the plug back round it and snap it shut.
